Ok. I get it. You don't like Ashton.

Still, he's not wrong though is he?

Russ.... yeah same Deano that slagged off our fans in Europe... he's a typical flip flop pundit... I mean lets be honest Durham does have a point... when you look at from the outside.... European champs... 6th in league... last 13 games only 2 losses... etc etc... we all know the fans feed off the football and the football feeds off the fans... always been a two way thing... yeah maybe it's harder at the Toilet bowl but there you go.

Anyway for a more sane balanced opinion I give you Mr Brazil.

I'm afraid you don't see it for what it is. Emperor Moyes is never questioned. He does not submit to assurances. He does it his way only. And anybody that dare question him is soon jettisoned. Look at the coaches he's seen off. The only reason Emperor Moyes hasn't jettisoned Sullivan is because he's the owner.

Wouldn't surprise me if Moyes gets his way and Steidten is soon out the door.

Turn it in. Interviews 2 years apart.

Hardly flip-flopping. Just adjusting his opinion to what he sees and the current situation. Like everybody.

Not sure how any West Ham fan can slag Ashton for his defence of us supporters with Durham.

Turn it ffs, you never went over there and spent your easy earned even when you were residing in the UK. You have admitted you haven't been to a game since Merv the swerve was between the sticks.

Sold0 are you being deliberately dense?

The first interview is when all of us were happy with the turnaround and momentum he got going with the high press etc and the rest are 2 seasons later where a large chunk share his views of the cunts shit way of playing the game.

Russ.... as much as I used to love Ashton he is without doubt the biggest flip flopper out there... just google him and David Moyes... bigging him up one min and fucking him off the next...

https://blowing-bubbles.co.uk/2021/04/12/dean-ashton-west-ham-can-secure-champions-league-football-under-a-revived-moyes/

Speaking exclusively to 888 Sport, Ashton recognised the great job that the manager has done so far and is pleased with how he has revived his reputation.

He said: “It’s been pretty remarkable when you consider where they were when David Moyes came back for his second time. He’s changed a lot of people’s views on him as a manager"

"Very impressed with the way David Moyes set his team up"

Make your fucking mind up Deano....

So if only 35k turned up you think it wouldn’t matter to them?

You do realise the club have various revenue streams from match days beyond tickets, right?

Jaan Kenbrovin 3:35 Wed Jan 3
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Ludo - yes I appreciate that but there is a difference in st holders not going and st holders giving the ticket back to the club to sell.

They will recognise exactly how many they couldn’t shift. That is far from a sell out for them and will be lost revenue considering the inflated prices for general sale.

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
David Sullivan received the money you paid for your seat as you paid for it. Why would he care whether you used it or not?

ludo21 3:24 Wed Jan 3
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Yes... lots of empty seats but as far as the owners are concerned it was 'sold out'.... you paid for your seat, you just didn't go. You won't be reimbursed as your seat didn't re-sell.

Mike. As I said I'm not saying people that don't go regularly are less of fans. I fully appreciate some can't make it for many many reasons. Family, finance , geography, work commitments etc.

However my point is the ones that are regularly there have a different opinion to those that don't go week in week out.

It's different having made the chore to ge there in shit weather, than watching it on tv
The atmosphere is different and you view the game differently

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
No it wasn’t. Mine and my old man’s seat never got sold. Judging by the gaps I think lots more were unsold.

ludo21 3:11 Wed Jan 3
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Technically it was sold out... some (a lot) STH just didn't turn up but they have paid for their tickets.

How many attendances at games travelling to/from the Home Counties equates to travelling to a game from the Middle East/SE Asia, given both involve the spending of "hard earned money" to do so?

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
“Spot on about the owners. League position and Europe runs will be exceeding expectations. Every match sells out so why would they want the style of football to change?”

Firstly, when the owners took over they said they had a 7 year plan to take the club into the CL. We are 14 years into that, so no we’re not exceeding their expectations.

Secondly, yesterday wasn’t sold out.

Spot on about the owners. League position and Europe runs will be exceeding expectations. Every match sells out so why would they want the style of football to change? It would be like a restaurant owner with every table booked for months ahead changing their head chef when there are a couple of poor reviews.

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Reckon Pep will do this season and one more and he has praised DeZerbi previously
Could definitely see that
Only Man U of the 'big' teams is probably considering a change but he'd be mad to go there if Man City was on the horizon

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
As I said on the GOAT thread:

With Paqueta and Kudus we are watchable, without we aren't... last night was very painful.

I have absolutely no doubt that another manager could improve our performances. Whether or not that would increase our points tally I do not know?

If we can continue to add better players then Moyes becomes less of an issue but if we can't keep hold of our best players and fail to replace with at least as good then it is not going to end well.

Personally I didn't enjoy watching Brighton last night either, okay they improved in the last 10-15 minutes and looked more likely to score but all that tippy tappy crap is just as boring as the 'low block'... not sure I would want De Zerbi either.... I think it is quite likely that Newcastle will get rid of Howe in the summer if not before... I'd be tempted to get him in if he becomes available.

Nick QQQ 1:56 Wed Jan 3
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Owners couldn't give a fuck about the football, they only care about league placement and commercials related to progressing in Europe.

On the De Zerbi point, he'll get a top job once he moves on from Brighton. Top coach. Wouldn't surprise me if he's tee'd up to replace Pep when he moves on, which iwll probably be sooner rather than later.

Fauxstralian 1:27 Wed Jan 3
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Said before that if I was the owner I'd want assurance on the below before a contract renewal offer:

Explanation as to how the team will develop beyond backs to the wall low block nonsense like last night
Acceptance of Steidtens recommendations on players
Explanation of a plan to incorporate our talented youth into the squad and team

That said I'd also have BUTTON HOLED Mr DeZerbi in the tunnel post match and asked him to name his price explaining he would have money to spend rather than selling off a couple of hundred million worth of talent before turning up with half a side and running us ragged like last night
